Yes I agree, that article seems to lack background research, it's a rational article but based on too little background information.
Reading CPPs PR-material for MBTI here must be a minimum requirement before rationally criticizing MBTI.
Too bad statements in that article is not referenced, hard to check if facts are correct. There are a lot of issues with MBTI and the biggest one is that dichotomies are assumed.
The polarities of each dichotomy is never tested in isolation, and that fact would invalidate statistical methods such as correlations, cronbachs alpha and others used to sell the instrument.

We can rationally conclude that it's unrecommended to use multivariate analysis (including factor analysis) on ipsative data, here are some references:
