    • So Immanuel Kants reaction to the british empiricists (John Locke, George Berkley, David Hume), the continental rationalists (René Descartes, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz,
Baruch Spinoza) and the scottish common sense realists (Thomas Reid, Adam Ferguson, James Beattie, Dugald Stewart) sparked the beginning of a renewal of the aristotelian middle-ground between rationalism and empiricism and laid the foundations for Romanticism, Existentialism, Continental Philosophy, Psychology and Post-modern philosophy.

In this sense Kants philosophy is very much involved in the philosophy of personality because Arthur Schopenhauer, Søren Kierkegaard, Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Heidegger will be influenced and will in turn influence Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler which will renew interest in the mental and temperamental.
