This sounds relevant to the concept of HSP. That concept requires crystalization and reductionism before maturing into something solid though.

I think they're mixing up traits a little. I think this is a more likely explanation for what drives creative genius: an ability to quickly scroll through your short-term memory. I don't think creative genius makes you worse at understanding or categorizing things around you, just a quicker ability to observe and categorize new information, only to then move on to new information.
